Re: Fluffle Valve Express

I've taken Fluffle-Valve-Express off the road for a bit of a rebuild. At long last (After being laid up for a year) I've made a start on the front end by taking it off to get to the bulkhead for a bit of welding and to clean up the chassis. I shall be having a look at the steering gear also, as this was very heavy and I'm sure there is something a-miss with it. Maybe drop the front axle off and clean/paint that as well. I shall be posting a few pic's on here soon, but for now you can CLICK HERE and take a look at what I've done so far.

Re: Fluffle Valve Express

I'd just about got myself sorted to go to Billing and get myself set up. Last thing I had to do was go to Sainsbury’s and get some provisions. Parked up, did me shopping and got back to the Series. Started her up and she was pinking like a good'un. Funny I thought, default/hmm What the hell has gone wrong now? Popped the bonnet and checked that the dizzy hadn't moved. It was solid in place. default/hmm It seemed to tick over okay, apart from what sounded like a miss-fire. A regular miss-fire. Pulled the leads off in turn and found that not a lot of difference was had when 3 or 4 was pulled off. Drove her home very gingerly and got her in the drive. Took the plugs out and they all looked okay. default/roll Did a compression test and found 3 and 4 cylinders only had 40psi compared to 1 and 2 having 150psi.

So the conclusion that I came to was a blown Head Gasket...

So OFF with the Head.

The new head-gasket went on the next day and I made it over to Billing for the Saturday and Sunday.
It's been running all week and is so far been fine.... default/smile
