Just wanted to post a quick hello to members of this site. I'll probably need some help/guidance in the near future as i've just acquired a '74 88" series 3 and will be looking at doing some work on it.

She runs ok at the moment and has MOT so not going to be a major project. More a case of ironing out the more minor problems. But, as i'm a complete newbie with little mechanical expertise, minor work = major for me :)

Previous owner took the petrol engine out and replaced it with a 'wolf' diesel engine. Is this going to cause me any major problems?

Regards,

A couple of mates and me decided to have a go at building ourselves a camping trailor for when we go to the Land Rover shows and on camping weekends. What do you all think? The trailor is now almost complete but ive not got any pics of it yet.

It now has all of the body work fitted and a solid side opening lid. Alls wev to do know is rig up all the electrics and give it a coat of deep bronze green withe silver body frame. It has not cost us much as many of the parts are off my old Landy and the the steel for its constuction was mostly paid for by collecting and weighing in scrap metal.
Eventurly it will have a cooker, sink and electric cooler fitted like them posh (and very expensive) expedition trailers.
Ile post more pics soon. :D

Puddle under my landy

I am new so forgive me if this a stoopid question :P

I got my landy on Saturday (1982 2.25 petrol SWB) and have driven the beast around for the last couple of days. After a trip, water is coming out of the expansion tank 'overflow' pipe and making a smallish puddle on the floor. There are some tiny bubbles around the little pipe that comes out of the top of the rad to the expansion tank and it sounds like there is some pressure in there.

When cold I checked the levels and the rad is full and the expansion tank is about a third full. The temp gauge sticks around normal even at the end of journey, is this ok or could there be a problem lurking in the background?

Apologies also for any poor mechanical terminology :/

I did a quick search of the forum but could not find any posts related to this, though I may be being blind

Hello, I know what a free wheeling hub does but I'm not really sure how it does it. My query is this. My 109 has MAP free wheeling hubs fitted, now does this mean there's still the castellated nut to remove (with the special tool and only on 109's) once the FWH hubs are off or when the hubs were originally fitted does this require the removal of the castellated nut for good?
I'm on the verge of stripping the hubs down and want to know if I have to tackle the castellated nut as I've no special tool.
